About the Position

AM Batteries, Inc., located in Billerica, MA, is revolutionizing battery manufacturing to enable a lower-cost, more sustainable process by eliminating solvents and drying in electrode production.

We are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to join our hardware and process R&D team. In this hands-on role, you’ll help develop the next generation of manufacturing hardware and processes. You’ll spend much of your time in the lab—building, testing, experimenting, and improving designs with a high degree of ownership. You’ll collaborate closely with a skilled and supportive team committed to your growth and impact.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities

· Design, prototype, and test components and devices for advanced battery manufacturing

· Operate and optimize existing manufacturing processes in collaboration with process and operations teams

· Analyze performance data to develop first-principles-based design improvements

· Translate lab and prototype observations into scalable electromechanical systems

· Collaborate on design, fabrication, implementation, and evaluation of prototypes

· Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems

· Maintain accurate, detailed work documentation

Basic Qualifications

Education & Experience:

· BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field

· 0–3 years of industry experience

· A design portfolio or website showcasing prior projects

Technical Skills:

· Programming experience (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Arduino, Teensy)

· Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling tools

· Familiarity with fabrication techniques (mill, lathe, laser cutting, 3D printing, PCB layout)

· Solid understanding of electronics and control systems

· Strong written communication and technical comprehension

Preferred Qualifications

Bonus Qualifications:
